Connecting communities through rhythm and sound.
About Sarah Westwood & Primal Sound

✦ Sharing the joy of music, sound & wellbeing
As the founder of Primal Sound, Sarah brings together energising group drumming, immersive soundbaths and her signature Calm Within approach to help people reduce stress, recharge and feel more at home in their bodies.
Alongside the joy and vitality of shared music-making, sessions may also include practical wellbeing tools — such as breath-based stress relief, guided relaxation, sensory grounding and gentle, accessible movement — offering participants skills they can take with them long after the session ends.
At the heart of Primal Sound is the belief that music and sound are powerful gateways to connection, regulation and renewal. For thousands of years, rhythm and resonance have been woven into celebrations, ceremonies and healing practices, bringing people together and restoring balance within individuals and communities. Today, these elements continue to have a profound effect — easing stress, lifting mood and building genuine connection across teams, communities and generations.
Music touches us physically, emotionally and spiritually. Through rhythm, sound and shared experience, tension softens, focus returns, and groups naturally begin to feel more connected — often with laughter, creativity and a renewed sense of ease.

She is known for her warm, inclusive and confidence-building style, blending three decades of musicianship with a deep understanding of how sound, rhythm and nervous-system-aware practices support wellbeing. Her work is grounded, accessible and shaped by years of hands-on experience with diverse groups — from students and staff to corporate teams and community organisations.
Over the years, Sarah has seen time and again how shared rhythm, sound and simple embodied practices can support people through challenges and change — offering moments of release, connection and restoration. Events are infused with humour, compassion and humanity, creating spaces where people feel safe to relax, re-engage and be themselves.
